The event promoted by the Ministry of Tourism and the Convention and Visitors Bureau (OCV) and which is also organized by the College of Family Physicians of Tabasco, AC, will take place at the Holiday Inn Aeropuerto hotel, with the fundamental purpose of exchanging experience and updating, research in family medicine, with the holding of 40 conferences and 15 workshops by national and international speakers.
At a press conference, the Secretary of Tourism, José Antonio Nieves Rodríguez, estimated an economic benefit due to direct spending by the congressmen, of 16 million pesos, to which will be added what their companions generate, in hotel occupancy and tourist tours. .
The state official was pleased that Tabasco is hosting this event, following having been held here for the first time in 2006 and guaranteed a good stay for the participants, while offering a great diversity of tourist sites to visit, in a state that has a cosmopolitan capital, converted into an important regional center for health, commerce, tourism and oil industry activities.
He highlighted the strategic location of Villahermosa, which will be of great interest to the congressmen, saying that “we are in a regional center that distributes tourists to seven major tourist routes, we have a lot of nature, very well expressed, 80 percent of the Mexican humid tropics. , 35 percent of Mexico’s fresh surface water, but, in addition, four of the most important cultures of Mexico passed through Tabasco,” he explained.
For her part, Aurora García López, national president of the Mexican Federation of Specialists and Residents in Family Medicine AC, valued the impulse of the Government of Tabasco through the Ministry of Tourism, to hold the XXXIV National Congress of Family Medicine in Tabasco.
He highlighted that with a logistics of one year and in an assembly of presidents and vice presidents of the nearly 47 associations, which are distributed throughout the country and which integrates approximately six thousand members, as one of the largest civil associations at the national level. certified in ISO-9001/2015, Tabasco was agreed as this year’s headquarters, which they consider complies with all safety, health and environmental management protocols, a priority in their guidelines.
He estimated that in this meeting, the expectations of the previous congress will be exceeded, since Tabasco has attracted the attention of specialists and to date 700 attendees have registered, out of a capacity of 1,200 congressmen that the event has, which has not happened in other editions, as he commented.
The specialist said that as the first level of care, family medicine faces different challenges every year, since health conditions and treatments change, which is why they have to serve 80 percent of the population. , “from the epidemiological conditions that we are facing, as well as technological issues and advances in medicine.”
