In the early morning of August 31, Beijing time, the IAAF Intercontinental Tour Silver Label Tournament held two events in Lucerne, Switzerland and Rovereto, Italy. China’s Xu Huiqin won the women’s pole vault championship with a score of 4.30 meters in the Lucerne competition.

Xu Huiqin was born in 1993 and began to practice pole vaulting in 2006, and has been with the pole for 16 years.

In recent years, Xu Huiqin has made rapid progress, especially the speed and rhythm of the run-up are very well grasped, and she has become a new pole vault star that the Chinese team focuses on training. She has lived up to expectations and has achieved a number of remarkable achievements both at home and abroad. At the Pole Vault Invitational Tournament in Yorkgrim, Germany in July 2019, she successfully leaped to a height of 4.70 meters and won the bronze medal, setting a personal best.

On August 5, 2021, in the women’s pole vault final of the Tokyo Olympics, Xu Huiqin stood on the Olympic arena for the first time and played as the only Chinese athlete, and finally tied for 8th place with a score of 4.50 meters, creating a Chinese athlete in the Olympic Games in this project. Best score in history. In September 2021, Xu Huiqin won the silver medal with a score of 4.55 meters in the track and field women’s pole vault final of the 14th National Games held in Shaanxi. In February this year, in the women’s pole vault final of the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Tour in Leuven, France, Xu Huiqin won the fourth place with a score of 4.65 meters, setting a new personal indoor best.

The more you fight, the more courageous, and the perseverance. Behind the achievement is Xu Huiqin’s hard work and sweat day and night. Over the years, she has been very strict with herself, bravely overcame injuries, and took every training and every game seriously. As in previous years, Xu Huiqin did not go home on New Year’s Eve this year. She continued to train in France throughout the winter. She was only accompanied by the pole in her hand, the sweat-soaked equipment and the daily lessons. For this pole vault girl, training is like a spring. Only when the pressure is tighter, can she “jump” higher at the moment of letting go.
