The new Xtra Ordinary Vol. 26 sampler appears as a t-shirt including a download code for listening. 36 songs from electro and lo-fi pop to reggae and hip hop to post punk and indie rock.
A number of artists who are intertwined with the Salzburg musical landscape have come together for the 26th edition of the Xtra Ordinary Compilation reunited. The annual work show of the scene gives a good cross-section of the current work of the musicians in the region. In the tradition of previous years and in order to replace physical sound carriers such as the CD, the sampler will be released again this year in a special, extremely attractive format:
This year the best music in Salzburg will not be released on CD, not on LP and not on cassette, but on a T-shirt! washable Rockhouse-Fans carry the tracklist on their backs, the music on their ears and the beat in their hearts.
The track list includes well-known and sustainably growing artists as well as newcomers and up-and-coming projects.
That’s how the Salzburg rapper is DAME represented again on the sampler. Last year he released it for the first time with a major label and climbed to number 6 in the album charts in both Austria and Germany. The electro pop duo MUNTH also returns with a new album and performs on the Xtra Ordinary a first impression of it. There are also many new projects and experiments to be discovered. Giovanna Fartacek from MUNTH eg is with her solo project BERGLIND on board, Dominic Muhrer (The Makemakes) and Leo Golser (Karl Kayzer) have joined the project LOVEBOAT teamed up, RAPHAEL JOYCE is the name of the new indie project Moby Stick singers, SEASON OF PLENTY consists of one half of the band Dos & Dust and the band Gastophon develops under the name ELSTER further in the future.
Overall, the 26th edition of the Xtra Ordinary offers a not inconsiderable range. Classic singer-songwriter productions like JULIAN NANTESindie rock to dance to by PLEASE MADAMEhip hop, psych rock by THE VELVET SWINGvernacular punk from the GLUE CREW and synthpop by AND YOKO.

The sampler appears in a small edition and, as in previous years, has been declared a top priority – Rockhouse Managing director Wolfgang Descho was personally responsible for project coordination and production of the compilation. When it came to mastering, you could rely on sound professional Wolfgang Schramml (Sonic Flow Studio) left, for the artwork was the Agentur Christian Salic at work.
