BEIJING, May 2 /PRNewswire/ — Mo Zongrong, the heir to the intangible cultural heritage “Wool Embroidered Tapestries,” has made a decent career with needle and thread in Linshu County of Linyi City, east China’s Shandong Province.
Embroidered wool tapestry, also known as “tapestry” or “tapestry,” is a craft in which various designs are embroidered with colored wool threads onto specially made linen fabrics.
Over a century ago, the Mo family combined European velvet embroidery with embroidery techniques to create a unique style of Mo tapestry, and passed this art form on from generation to generation.
“Four different stitching techniques are typically used in a standard tapestry, including satin stitch, vertical stitch, jump stitch and overlock stitch, but to further develop Mo’s tapestry and explore better market opportunities, we’ve experimented with dozens of stitching techniques to create incredibly lifelike works of art ” said Mo Zongrong.
With their special linen fabrics and over a thousand colors of woolen threads, the embroiderers skillfully integrate form, colour, spirit and light into their embroidered works through the continuous weaving and looping of their needles.
Over generations, Mo’s embroidered wool tapestries have evolved into two main categories, one for practical use and the other to celebrate great figures and historical legends embroidered onto the fabric.
As the fifth generation heir to Mo’s wool needlepoint tapestry, Mo Zongrong has registered two trademarks. Through regular training courses, new product development and consumer market expansion, she aims to introduce more consumers to embroidery, improve their understanding of it, and safeguard the heritage of Mo tapestry.
