100 euro smartphone comes to Europe

The Redmi A1 comes to Europe for just 100 euros and is therefore one of the cheapest, albeit weakest devices that Xiaomi offers here. Although “here” doesn’t quite apply, because a sale in Germany has not yet been decided.

A few years ago there was the Xiaomi Mi A series, to which devices like the 200 euro cheap Mi A3 belonged. The now emerged Redmi A1 is not necessarily to be understood as a return to the series, but shares certain characteristics with the entry-level models.

For one, it is one of the manufacturer’s cheapest smartphones to date: In India it was first presented for the equivalent of 80 euros, now it is supposed to be a report by WinFuture according to for less than 120 euros or even 100 euros to Europe come. Initially, however, the cheap smartphone is only available in countries such as France, Hungary and Slovakia. It remains to be seen when or if it will come to Germany at all.

100 euro device with pure Android and a large battery

On the other hand, and that makes it particularly interesting, the Redmi A1 also does without Xiaomi’s own MIUI user interface. This is not particularly popular with many users due to major changes to the basic structure, instead soll barely changed stock Android 12 come into use. Presumably, this “pure” Android, like Android One with the Xiaomi Mi A series, will contain some restrictions or deleted functions.

Apart from that, the Redmi A1 offers about exactly what can be expected at this price: The 6.52 inch LCD screen has a resolution of 1600x720p (HD+) and has a notch for the 5 megapixel front camera. Don’t expect too spectacular results from the rear camera either. To the Main sensor with 8 MP and F/2.0 aperture there is another unspecified sensor to the side.

The memory dimensions are similarly simple, here they come two gigabytes of RAM and 32 GB of expandable flash memory for use. At least the Redmi A1 should come with one 5.000-mAh-Battery hold out for a long time, nostalgics are also happy about the last appearance of the micro USB interface, via which the smartphone is charged.
