Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will support reverse folding
Rumors say that Xiaomi is working on its new foldable phone, which will hit the market this year.
A leaker on Weibo today revealed information related to the phone with the code l18, which refers to the code name of the new generation of Xiaomi foldable phone.
In addition, the leaker confirms that this phone will support reverse folding, so Xiaomi will be the first company to release a smartphone with a reverse folding screen. However, at the moment, it is not clear whether the company will be able to complete this technology.
Xiaomi has been reported to have been working on a prototype of a two-way foldable phone since 2018, but it hasn’t been released to consumers. Now, it turns out that the manufacturer is trying to revive this phone.
The biggest problem with this device is that the interface to switch to phone modes is slow. According to the leaked Xiaomi code, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will have a function to adjust the size of the interface so that the interface fits without errors when the phone is folded in any direction.
The company did not implement this feature in the model introduced 3-4 years ago, as this feature takes advantage of system improvements intended for large screens and foldable phones. So, it is possible that the following device will be running Android 12.1 pre-installed instead of Android 12.
According to previous leaks, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will have a large screen that can be folded left and right. The internal screen size is 8 inches, which is not much different from the screen size of the iPad mini which is 8.3 inches, and the external screen size is 6.5 inches.
Moreover, the same blogger previously revealed that the upcoming phone will come with many improvements, including that the internal and external screens will support high refresh rates instead of the 60Hz refresh rate in the current version. The phone is also said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 processor.
According to various sources, the Xiaomi Mixfold 2 will be released in June this year, but it seems that the company does not plan to release it outside of China.
