Xiaomi has formalized two new pairs of wireless headphones, the Redmi Buds 4 and Redmi Buds 4 Pro. Price, availability and characteristics, here are the first elements known regarding them.
The market for wireless headphones still abounds. Xiaomi comes to bring one more stone to the building by presenting its Redmi Buds 4 et Redmi Buds 4 Pro, just made official for the French market. The version “Pro “had already been introduced in China in August 2022, without it being known at the time if a release by us was planned.
At the same time, the brand today presented other products, such as a kibble dispenser and a connected water fountain, a series of vacuum cleaners and a robot vacuum cleaner, two smartphones, a new television as well as the Redmi Pad tablet. Also, the connected bracelet Smart Band 7 Pro arrived in France.
Algorithm and AI on the menu
The Redmi Buds 4 Pro opt for an in-ear format which provides passive isolation from outside noise. Added to this is an active noise cancellation function (up to 43 dB), managed by three microphones and various algorithms. According to Xiaomi, the AI developed makes it possible to precisely identify human voices to better erase them. A total of four modes are offered.
One of them is an adaptive mode that manages to detect ambient noise and choose the most appropriate level of noise cancellation. And this, in order to best adapt to your environment and your needs.
On the autonomy side, the Chinese brand promises up to 9 hours on a single charge. A value that climbs to 36 hours thanks to the energy provided by the case. To remain vigilant in the street or in transport, a double transparency mode – Regular and Enhance Voice – has been integrated in order to listen to the noises around.
The wireless headphones also rely on a dual system transducer 10 and 6 mm. It is also necessary to count on compatibility with the codecs audio Bluetooth SBC, AAC and LDAC, a weight of 46 grams and a certification Hi-Res Audio Wireless and IP54 (resistant once morest splashing water and dust ingress).
Oddly, the press release does not mention an LHDC 4.0 codec, which was discussed at the Chinese conference this summer.
Redmi Buds 4: less enduring and less effective in noise reduction
For their part, the Redmi Buds 4 offer a battery life of 30 hours with the charging case, or up to 6 hours on a single full charge. There are therefore fewer listening hours available. Still in in-ear format, this model also benefits from a double transparency mode, but from active noise reduction managed this time by two microphones.
We must therefore expect a slightly less efficient attenuation of surrounding noise, 35 dB more precisely. Like its big brother, an IP54 certification is included, while the brand only mentions a single 10mm transducer. Weighing 49 grams with the case, the Redmi Buds 4 can be recharged to 100% in less than 2 hours.
Redmi Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro: price and availability
The Redmi Buds 4 Pro (Moon White and Midnight Black) and Redmi Buds 4 (Light Blue and Gloss White) have been available since Tuesday, October 4, at prices of 89.99 and 69.99 euros respectively, through official Xiaomi channels and Amazon. An introductory offer gives access to a reduction of 10 euros in the event of purchase between 4 and 10 October.
More generally, the Redmi Buds 4 Pro are positioned at a hotly contested tariff segment, where the excellent references have lately multiplied. We think in particular of Nothing ear (1)launched at 100 euros, but available around 90 euros, but also at Sony WF-C500sold for 100 euros when they were launched – 69 euros today.
The Redmi Buds 4 will come to rub shoulders with Realme Buds Air 3which can be found around 60 euros.
