The Xiaomi 14T Pro is a typical representative of the “dot” series – a phone that offers the best of the flagship models in a more affordable package. After a month of intensive testing, during which I also had the opportunity to use the Pixel 9 Pro and the iPhone 16, I bring a comprehensive view of all the strengths and weaknesses of this interesting phone.
1. Finally, premium construction
If I had one major complaint about last year’s generation of “dots”, it was the plastic frame. At a time when even some middle classes are getting metal chassis, this compromise felt cheap. This is finally changing with the new generation – the 14T Pro uses it aluminum frame and in combination with the perfectly processed glass back it looks really premium.
The camera module looks much more elegant than its predecessor, and although it still protrudes slightly above the surface, the phone does not wobble significantly when placed on a table. But I must mention that the glass back is a magnet for fingerprints, just like the competition. It’s a bit disappointing here that Xiaomi has dropped the faux leather variant that I praised so much on the predecessor. But the phone fits perfectly in the hand and the workmanship is at the level of much more expensive models. This is helped, for example, by the textured power button, as well as a great haptic response that makes the phone a joy to use.
What pleases me is the full certification IP68. While a few years ago, increased resistance was a prerogative of the most expensive models, today it can be found in this price category as well.
2. Absolutely stunning display
AMOLED panel with resolution 2712 × 1220 pixels and 144Hz refresh rate it sounds great on paper, but how it works is more important. And here I have to praise Xiaomi – the display is one of the best you can currently find on the market. In everyday use, the extreme luminosity in direct sunlight is noticeable. The maximum brightness of 4000 nits in HDR mode is not just a marketing number – when watching HDR content on Netflix or YouTube, the difference compared to last year’s model is clearly visible. In normal use, you will then reach approx 1300 rivetswhich is still more than enough value.
What I miss a bit though is the LTPO panel. In this regard, some competitors offer more variable switching between 1-120 Hz, which has a positive effect on battery life. Xiaomi can change the frequency, but only between several preset values. In practice, however, most users do not recognize this, and the image quality is simply top-notch.
Dimensity 9300+ is no surprise – MediaTek has been proving for several generations that it can produce a full-fledged flagship chipset. Its architecture is particularly interesting – instead of the traditional division into powerful and economical cores, it bets on four powerful Cortex-X4 cores supplemented by four medium-powered Cortex-A720.
In benchmarks, this is especially evident in multi-core tests, where the phone routinely exceeds 2 million points in AnTuTu. That’s more than the Galaxy S24 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and most other competitors. But what pleases me even more is handling the heat. After several weeks of testing, which included playing Genshin Impact or Call of Duty Mobile, I have to say that the phone keeps temperatures under control surprisingly well.
With a recent performance Dimensity 9400 of course, the question arises as to whether it is a shame to buy a phone with an older chipset, but it will reach us at the beginning of next year at the earliest. And I’m still optimistic…
4. Leica cameras are not just a marketing gimmick
After a month of intensive photography, I can say with a clear conscience that cooperation with Leica traditionally brings its fruits. Main 50MPx sensor with optical stabilization and aperture f/1.6 je identical to the standard Xiaomi 14, which is definitely good news. In practice, this means sharp images with natural colors and, above all, an excellent night mode.
When I compare it to the Pixel 9 Pro, for example, which is in a completely different price category, Xiaomi offers comparable quality in normal conditions and is even (in my view) better at night, where Google reigned for a long time.
He pleased me too telephoto lens with 2.6x zoom. Although it is less than the Ultra models with their periscopes, it is a more than sufficient focal point for ordinary photography. In addition, the quality of the images is very good – the sharpness and color rendering are top notch. The wide-angle lens is rather average, which is a shame. This is where Xiaomi could learn a little from the competition.
The camera system offers two modes from Leica – Authentic for realistic presentation and Vibrant for more vivid colors. I have to say that I use Authentic much more often. Although the colors are less expressive than those of the competition, they are more faithful to reality and therefore have their own character in the crowd of HDR images from the competition. If you still need more expressive images, just switch to Vibrant mode. Oh, and by the way – I recommend turning off automatic HDR when shooting on Authentic. The pictures are even better.
5. Charging is finally complete
Arriving is undoubtedly the biggest upgrade in charging 50W wireless charging. Last year’s model had to be satisfied with only wired charging, the novelty can now also handle a wireless alternative. A full charge takes about an hour with the proprietary charger, which is great, but you have to buy it separately. The phone supports wired 120W chargingwhich gets the battery from 0 to 100% in less than half an hour.
The 5000mAh battery is by no means a revolutionary capacity, but the phone can comfortably last a whole day with normal use. With more demanding use, including taking photos, playing games and navigation, you will get 4-6 hours of display time, which is comparable to most of the competition.
6. A price tag that makes sense
For the price 15,990 CZK (in the 12/512 GB version) you get a phone that in many respects competes with much more expensive models.
Why maybe wait?
The situation on the market is currently quite interesting. For CZK 15,990, in the case of the Xiaomi 14T Pro, you get a top-of-the-range phone with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Although Samsung offers discounts on the Galaxy S24 or S23, it only offers 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. The Pixel 8 Pro is similar – great camera and pure Android, but again only with 128GB of storage in the base, and at a higher price.
An interesting alternative could be the OnePlus 12R, which, however, lacks a telephoto lens and relies on last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. If you are tempted to switch to the Apple ecosystem, the new iPhone SE 4 should arrive in March 2025. Although it will offer significantly worse equipment (especially in the area displays and cameras), but it can be an interesting gateway to the world of iOS.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro thus currently represents a very well-balanced combination of high-end hardware and a reasonable price. Yes, the Xiaomi 15 will come in January with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, but also with a significantly higher price. And while the competition gradually lowers its phones, it usually does not offer a complete package of functions and equipment for a similar price.
So if you’re looking for a premium phone with a minimum of compromises and don’t want to spend over 20,000 crowns, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is still one of the best choices on the market. The new generation of flagships will bring better performance and new features, but also a price tag several thousand higher. And that is exactly why the T series continues to have its irreplaceable place on the market.

1. Finally, Premium Construction
Now, if there’s one thing that made last year’s “dots” feel like they were made of recycled children’s toys, it was that plastic frame. I mean, I half expected it to come with a complimentary bubble wrap! But fear not, my friends! The 14T Pro struts onto the scene with an aluminum frame that screams, “I’m here, and I mean business!” Pair that with a glass back that looks like it just walked off a luxury yacht, and you’ve got yourself a winner. Just a heads-up: if you have sticky fingers, prepare for a fingerprint magnet that’s more popular than a celebrity at a red carpet event!
2. Absolutely Stunning Display
Now, let’s talk screens. The AMOLED panel boasts a jaw-dropping resolution of 2712 × 1220 pixels and a refresh rate that’ll make you feel like you’re in some sort of techie wonderland—144Hz! It’s brighter than a thousand suns (well, okay, 4000 nits in HDR mode to be precise)! You’ll need sunglasses just to glance at your Netflix! It’s like the sun is shining directly from your pocket, and who doesn’t love a little extra vitamin D while binging on cat videos?
3. Performance that Packs a Punch
Underneath its beautiful exterior pulses the Dimensity 9300+—a chipset that not only performs but entertains! Forget about those boring ‘old’ cores; this bad boy has a mix of high-powered Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 cores that keep you zooming through games and videos. Benchmarks? They’ve stopped calling me back! They’re in the 2 million points club, outperforming the likes of the Galaxy S24, and without getting hot enough to roast marshmallows!
4. Leica Cameras: Not Just for the Pros
Hold onto your hats, photography lovers! This is not just any camera; it’s a 50MP Leica collaboration. I mean, Leica is the name you drop at parties for street cred! The images are crisp, colors pop like confetti, and the night mode? Let’s just say it might make you reconsider your career as a night owl! I’ve seen smartphones struggle at night, but this one? It turns darkness into daylight like a seasoned magician.

You’ll be sipping your coffee while it charges in less than an hour. And with the 120W wired charging, you’ll go from zero to hero quicker than you can say “I forgot to plug it in!”
6. A Price Tag that Makes Sense
Now, for a cool 15,990 CZK, you’re getting a flagship that rivals phones in a higher price bracket. This is where the Xiaomi 14T Pro becomes the kid at the fair who wins the big teddy bear without having to sell a kidney to afford it. It’s like finding a Michelin-star meal at a fast-food price!
Why Maybe Wait?
Now, that’s all well and good, but here comes the twist in the tale. If you’re contemplating this purchase with the care of a Michelin chef handling a soufflé, perhaps hold your horses. Yes, the Xiaomi 15 is on the horizon with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 glory. Then again, do you really want to sell a small island to get it?
In a world where companies dangle the latest tech like shiny carrots, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is still a horse that’s won the race without breaking the bank. If you want a premium phone without going through a mid-life crisis at the checkout, this is still up there!
Conclusion: So there you have it! The Xiaomi 14T Pro straddles the line between affordability and premium features like a circus performer on a tightrope. With its top-notch construction, stunning display, powerful chipset, fantastic cameras, and undeniably sensible pricing, it’s a tempting option for anyone not looking to dip into their trust fund.
Now, what do you think? Are you ready to join the Xiaomi revolution, or will you keep waiting with bated breath for the next big launch? Let’s hear it, folks!
The Xiaomi 14T Pro stands out as a quintessential example of the popular “dot” series—providing users with an array of flagship features packaged at a more budget-friendly price point. After a month filled with thorough testing, during which I also had the opportunity to experience the Pixel 9 Pro and the iPhone 16, I present a detailed analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of this remarkable device.
1. Finally, premium construction
Last year’s “dot” generation left much to be desired, primarily due to its plastic frame that felt subpar, especially in an era where even mid-range smartphones boast metal designs. Fortunately, the new Xiaomi 14T Pro has made a significant leap forward with an elegant aluminum frame, complemented by a meticulously finished glass back that exudes a sense of premium quality.
The camera module has seen design improvements, offering a more sophisticated look than before. Despite the module’s slight protrusion, it doesn’t considerably wobble when placed on flat surfaces like tables. However, it’s worth noting that the glass back is prone to accumulating fingerprints, similar to many competitors. Interestingly, Xiaomi has chosen not to include the faux leather option from its predecessor, which many praised. Nevertheless, the phone feels excellent in hand, and the craftsmanship rivals that of much more expensive devices. This is enhanced by thoughtful touches like a textured power button and a great haptic response, all of which contribute to an enjoyable user experience.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 14T Pro boasts full IP68 certification, underscoring the device’s enhanced durability and resistance against water and dust intrusion, a feature that was once a hallmark of only the priciest models but is now more accessible in this category.
2. Absolutely stunning display
The AMOLED display, with a resolution of 2712 × 1220 pixels and an impressive 144Hz refresh rate, is more than just impressive on paper—it delivers an outstanding visual experience. Xiaomi has truly excelled here, as the screen ranks among the best available in today’s smartphone market. Users will appreciate the extraordinary luminosity under direct sunlight, with a peak brightness reaching 4000 nits in HDR mode, making streaming HDR content from platforms like Netflix or YouTube a visually stunning affair compared to previous models. In everyday scenarios, you can expect a brightness level of around 1300 nits, which is quite sufficient for most users.
While the lack of an LTPO panel is a minor drawback since some competitors provide more dynamic refresh rates ranging from 1-120 Hz, this isn’t likely to bother the average user as the overall image quality remains exceptional.
4. Leica cameras are not just a marketing gimmick
My month-long photography experience confirms that Xiaomi’s collaboration with Leica pays off beautifully. The main 50MP sensor with optical stabilization and f/1.6 aperture mirrors that of the standard Xiaomi 14, which bodes well for image quality. This combination results in sharp, vibrant images with natural color reproduction and particularly impressive performance in low-light conditions.
When comparing the Xiaomi 14T Pro to competitors like the Pixel 9 Pro, it’s remarkable how the Chinese brand offers comparable, if not superior, image quality, especially in nighttime photography—a domain long dominated by Google’s innovations.
Moreover, the 2.6x telephoto lens strikes a satisfying balance in zoom capability, although it falls short compared to high-end models with advanced periscope zoom functionality. Still, the lens delivers impressive sharpness and color fidelity. The wide-angle lens is somewhat average, revealing a missed opportunity for Xiaomi to enhance its offerings compared to competitors.
Users can choose from two distinct Leica modes: Authentic for lifelike representations and Vibrant for those seeking a more colorful flair. Personally, I find myself leaning towards the Authentic mode due to its fidelity to true-to-life colors, which often stand out amidst the overwhelming HDR trends in photography today.
5. Charging is finally complete
Perhaps the most significant enhancement comes in the realm of charging capabilities—now offering 50W wireless charging. While the previous model relied solely on wired charging, the 14T Pro expands its functionality, supporting wireless charging that takes about an hour for a full charge. Do note, however, that the proprietary charger is sold separately. Additionally, the phone retains 120W wired charging, which can fully charge the battery in less than thirty minutes, a remarkable feature for users on the go.
The device is equipped with a 5000mAh battery, which, while not groundbreaking in capacity, comfortably endures a full day of regular use. For those demanding continuous activity, including photography, gaming, and extensive app usage, expect around 4-6 hours of screen-on time, which is competitive with most devices in its class.
6. A price tag that makes sense
Priced at 15,990 CZK for the 12/512 GB version, the Xiaomi 14T Pro offers an impressive value proposition, providing a device that rivals many pricier smartphones in various respects.
Why maybe wait?
The current market landscape presents intriguing choices for consumers. For 15,990 CZK, the Xiaomi 14T Pro delivers a top-of-the-line experience with generous specifications like 12 GB RAM and 512 GB storage. While Samsung provides options involving the Galaxy S24 or S23 at discounted rates, those models typically come with only 8 GB RAM and limited storage capacities of 128/256 GB. Similarly, the Pixel 8 Pro, despite its excellent camera and clean Android software, offers just 128GB base storage at a higher price point.
Alternatively, the OnePlus 12R presents another option; however, it lacks a telephoto lens and is built around the previous year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. For those contemplating a transition into the Apple ecosystem, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 set for release in March 2025 could be a viable, albeit less-equipped, entry point, particularly in display and camera quality.
The Xiaomi 14T Pro stands out as a well-rounded blend of high-end hardware and sensible pricing. Although the Xiaomi 15 is set for launch in January with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, it will undoubtedly come at a significantly elevated price point. As competitors continually lower their offerings, they often do not provide a comprehensive suite of features for a comparable price. Hence, the Xiaomi 14T Pro remains an exemplary choice for anyone seeking a premium phone with minimal compromises, especially for under 20,000 crowns.
