Xiaomi 13 / Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 confirmed – no surprise to anyone

Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch of the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro on December 1st. On that date, the company will hold a major event in China where it will unveil the new flagship and a range of new technical products. The company will launch a new smart watch, new TWS earphones, and even the first desktop computer. Furthermore, we have the announcement of MIUI 14. But back to this article, Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are undoubtedly the big stars of the show. For this reason, Xiaomi keeps the hype alive with teasers. Today, the company confirmed that the new flagships will get Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

At this point, this is not surprising to anyone. Thanks to several leaks that have surfaced ahead of the launch date, we already know what to expect from the new flagships. As a flagship in 2023, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is basically a must-have. Especially when competition comes with it. For the second year in a row, Xiaomi will miss out on being the first to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. This year, Vivo has achieved this with the Vivo X90 Pro+.

Xiaomi posted a couple of teasers on Weibo confirming the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 under the Xiaomi 13 series. They are optimistic about the multi-core performance of the new CPU which increases by 37%. Moreover, GPU performance increased by 42%. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 keeps the 4nm process but improves everything else. It has 1 x ARM Cortex-X3 at 3.2GHz, 2 x ARM Cortex-A715, 2 x ARM Cortex-A710 cores at 2.8GHz, and three ARM Cortex-A510 cores at up to 2GHz.

According to the leaks, the Xiaomi 13 will come with a flat OLED screen. On the other hand, the Pro will have a curved end. Both phones have ultra-thin bezels. Vanilla will bring 67W fast charging, and the Pro could go up to 120W. Both phones will debut MIUI 14 as their operating system. Phones will bring a lot of quality of life features.
