The Chinese manufacturer has officially launched its next flagship in its country. The Xiaomi 12 series will be the successor to the Mi 11, and the second device to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It arrives with its share of innovations to compete with the other smartphones in its range for this year 2022.
Presentation of the Xiaomi 12 Series
Like every year, we find a standard and Pro version of the smartphone. However, one range seems to have undergone a name change: the Xiaomi 12 X. The latter concerns the Lite version of the series.
The first observation concerns the change in the design of the device (Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro). The back accommodates a rectangular photo block on its upper left corner. This one has a more streamlined appearance and puts more emphasis on the sensors.
This year, Xiaomi reduced the size of its flagship. Indeed, the Xiaomi 12 displays a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen against 6.81 inches on the Mi 11. However, this remains above the compact smartphone segment. The refresh rate is obviously 120 Hz.
The Xiaomi 12 will be powered by a 4500mAh battery, compatible with 67W fast charging. The main difference of the Xiaomi 12 X is in the on-board chip. This model will be equipped with the Snapdragon 870 instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Pricing and availability
The Xiaomi 12 Series will be released under MIUI 13. It will therefore work directly with Android 12. At the time of writing, these devices are only available in Chinese territory. It will therefore be necessary to wait a few weeks before seeing them on the European market and the rest of the world.
We also do not know the models that will reach our borders. In the case of the Mi 11, the Pro version remained absent from stores. The colors available are black, blue, purple and textured green.
For price, the Xiaomi 12 is available starting at 3,699 yuan, or around $ 580 (8 + 128 GB). The 8 + 256 GB configuration is 3,999 yuan (about $ 630), and the one with 12 +256 GB is 4,399 yuan (or $ 690). The Pro version starts at 4,699 yuan (roughly $ 738), while the Xiaomi 12 X starts at 3,199 yuan (roughly $ 500).
Pre-orders have already started on December 30, 2021. Sales are announced at the start of 2022.
