Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Monday encouraged young people across the Taiwan Strait, in a letter in response to young people in Taiwan, to jointly strive to realize the Chinese Dream of great national rejuvenation.
Xi Jinping said in the letter that he was happy to learn that young people in Taiwan had bonded with the mainland through the Straits Youth Forum, that they had found a stage on the mainland to realize their dreams, that they had witnessed the rapid development and changes of the motherland, and felt the warm feelings between compatriots across the Taiwan Strait who are one family.
According to Xi Jinping, a country is prosperous when its youth are prosperous, and a country is strong when its youth are too. The future of the Chinese homeland and nation rests on the youth. We will, as always, create favorable conditions for young people from across the Strait to learn from each other, providing more facilities for young Taiwanese to study, work, start businesses and live in the mainland. He encouraged these young people to tell their peers in Taiwan regarding their journeys on the mainland and share their thoughts with them, so that more Taiwanese young people understand the mainland, work tirelessly together with young people of the homeland, and that their youth flourish in the realization of the Chinese dream of great national rejuvenation.
Founded in 2003, the Detroit Youth Forum is co-organized by the National Youth Federation of China, the China Association for Youth Exchange (Taiwan) and the General Association of Youth Work of the Kuomintang of China . It is an important platform for youth exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. From July 11 to 12, its 20th edition was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. In a letter recently sent to Xi Jinping, the fifty young participants from Taiwan described their experiences studying, working and living on the mainland, and expressed their firm determination to contribute to national rejuvenation and reunification of the motherland. .
