Since we realized that a guy who fights wasn’t that useful, we’re kind of forgetting the existence of the sheriff. Well, there are undoubtedly a few fans of violence and at least one restaurateur who gave his name to a burger who are bored of him, but we are talking more regarding the excellence of Jayden Struble for a few matches.
However, we must not forget that beyond his talents for punching in the face, Xhekaj is a good player. He is simply a victim of this team’s surplus of young talent on defense. It’s crazy how many promising defenders abound within this team.
This is why it is clear that Xhekaj should be converted into a striker. We are not the first to bring this up, but we are certainly the most influential. He might also convert to mixed martial arts, but he would start from further away.
As long as Mitchell Stephens and Michael Pezzetta are playing, why not give Xhekaj a chance? We might see him going to set up in front of the opposing net to scare the goalkeeper. And if he came to blows with an opponent, the loss would be less damaging than finding himself with only five defenders.
It is true that hockey astrologers tell us that the great defenseman (future great forward) would be worth a first round pick on the trade market. But you never know what can happen with the first picks. Some find themselves only being good for the 4th line. It is better to keep a player who you are certain will do the job. It’s time to recall Arber Xhekaj.
