Here we are ! It is this week that the Xbox Showcase will take place and the Xbox marketing director gives us some details today on what we can expect from this long-awaited conference.
Showcase details
Even if the conference will not be broadcast in a room with an audience this year, the format of this showcase will not be too different from what we have known in recent years at Microsoft. Xbox Marketing Director Aaron Greeberg confirmed a few details in various Twitter exchanges over the weekend.
Two hours of non-stop play
As in previous years, the Xbox showcase will be an opportunity for Microsoft to present many upcoming games. “About two hours of non-stop games, games, games, games, and Starfield!” » says Aaron Greenberg, the content is therefore likely to be very dense once once more.
No 12-month game release limit
Last year, Microsoft’s release catalog was a little light, so the brand decided to communicate regarding its games that were going to be released in the next 12 months. Although some have since been postponed, this is not Xbox’s chosen solution this year.
Asked if the games shown at Xbox Showcase 2023 would all be released within the next 12 months, Aaron Greeberg simply answered “no”. This information confirms what we were reporting in May, so there will be games featured that will be released in a longer time.
No movies or TV series
In case anyone was wondering, there will also be no movie or TV series trailers during the Xbox Showcase. Still in development, the TV series Fallout will therefore not be shown this Sunday.
No CGI trailer
Some publishers choose to showcase their games with awesome cutscenes, but Xbox won’t.
None of our first party showcase games are CGI trailers. Everything is either gameplay footage, in-engine footage, or gameplay footage with some cutscenes. Each of our trailers will have a mention so that fans can find their way around.
This transparency in what is presented is to be welcomed since everyone does not necessarily play the game. However, the rendering of the “in-engine” trailers must be put into perspective since we remember, for example, the first trailer for Halo Infinite which ran with the game engine, and which is not really the rendering that players were entitled to in the final game.
See you this Sunday at 7 p.m. live on Xboxygen to experience the Xbox conference with us, commented in French on our Twitch channel! As usual, the entire editorial team will be mobilized to provide you with real-time information as well as a summary of the announcements at the end.
