The Blizzcon 2023 conference is still live as of this writing, and now that Blizzard has been acquired by Microsoft, all of the company’s games are now coming under the Xbox banner. This is why gaming boss Phil Spencer wanted to be present to launch this new Blizzcon.

Phil Spencer arrived on stage following being introduced by Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment. The two men know each other well since the latter had worked for 19 years at Microsoft, half of which in management positions at Xbox.

The Xbox boss began by greeting the room, emphasizing that it was also his very first BlizzCon. “Your love for these games sincerely inspires me,” he said before adding that Blizzard occupied a special place within the video game industry.

Phil Spencer cited several legendary franchises created by Blizzard, starting with Diablo, Starcraft, World of Warcraft and Overwatch. He recalled that his goal was to bring more good games to more players and places to play.

Now that Blizzard is part of Xbox, we’ll nurture the essence of what makes Blizzard unique. Blizzard’s future is brighter than ever. We will empower our new colleagues to develop a culture of trust, inclusion and collaboration.

This last sentence certainly warmed the hearts of Blizzard employees who have suffered from harassment issues in recent years. As we have seen, Xbox is in favor of the creation of unions, seeing the gaming boss talking regarding trust and inclusion on stage at BlizzCon is not trivial. We know that Bobby Kotick will leave the management of Activision Blizzard at the end of the year, and it already seems obvious that the person who follows will have a very different profile.

“After seeing what was planned for players, I can tell you that the future of Blizzard is brighter than ever. » Thus Phil Spencer concluded his appearance at BlizzCon, giving a glimpse of the future of the company with a certain serenity.
