Microsoft just announced a new controller that delivers a double dose of green gaming because it’s both Xbox-friendly and eco-friendly. There Xbox Wireless Controller Remix Special Edition has a vibrant organic look, and the design is described as ” earth-toned colors with subtle variations, swirls, markings and textures”.
But that’s not all that’s impressive regarding this new controller. The body of the device is made from recycled resins, which means less waste and a cleaner planet. On Xbox WireMicrosoft explains:
“We aspire to create a gaming future in a world we want to play in. Earth Day is fast approaching and offers us all a special opportunity to reflect on how we can improve our impact on the planet. To celebrate this year, we’ve created an Xbox controller that contains reclaimed plastics, one-third of which is made from regrind and salvaged materials.
And as if that weren’t enough, the packaging is also eco-friendly, with recyclable materials and free of single-use plastic. It also comes with an Xbox rechargeable battery to avoid single-use batteries. This new controller sets an example for the gaming industry, showing that it is possible to create durable peripherals. This is a step in the right direction, and we can only hope that other companies will follow suit.
The Xbox Wireless Controller Remix Special Edition will launch on April 18, but can be pre-ordered starting today through the Marché Xbox.
