Xbox and the Game Awards: the missed date and the promise of news “soon” | XboxOne

If you followed the Game Awards last night, you will have noticed that Xbox was strangely absent throughout the evening. We have, of course, had the right to many advertisements for the Game Pass, but no game developed in-house has given its news. But the brand promises us news soon.

Game Awards 2022: Xbox’s missed date

“We heard more regarding Bill Clinton than Xbox exclusives during the Game Awards.” This joke, we read it, and it is true since Microsoft chose not to talk regarding its games during the ceremony.

It is therefore a strange week that ends for Microsoft, and certainly not the best in the history of the brand. After announcing a price increase for its games for next year, Xbox has learned the FTC hold on Activision takeover, and did not present any of its games during The Game Awards. Fans of the brand have had more cheerful weeks.

Why Microsoft chose not to show anything at all during the biggest video game event of the last six months, yet seen by an audience that is not necessarily aware of all the news of its brand?

One would have thought that the Game Awards were a perfect opportunity to make the future Xbox lineup known to as many people as possible, but the brand was simply absent.

Xbox promises news soon

Aaron Greenberg, director of marketing at Xbox, knows this well, and he reacted a few minutes ago to explain it.

We have a lot to show and share regarding the incredibly exciting year 2023. We appreciate people being eager to learn and see more. Timing is always key, but don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too long for what’s next from us.

Indeed, the timing was not really in favor of Xbox players at the end of the year. With an absence of AAA games over the last quarter, fans were at least waiting to hear regarding the many games announced by Xbox studios that still don’t have a release date.

If you look at our summary of the Game Awards 2022, Xbox Studios was strangely absent from the announcements. And yet they have a lot to show. When Aaron Greenberg promises that we won’t have to wait much longer to find out what’s next at Xbox, he’s most likely referring to an event the brand will be hosting in the near future to talk regarding its next year.

Here are some games that are already confirmed for 2023 from Xbox studios:

  • Redfall
  • Starfield
  • Age of Empires IV sur consoles Xbox
  • Forza Motorsport
  • Minecraft Legends

And that’s not counting the other games from Xbox studios (Fable, Everwild, Avowed, Hellblade II…) or the partnerships that the brand has established with certain developers. We think in particular of STALKER 2, COCOON, ARK II or Contraband. Everything suggests that a big event will be announced for the beginning of 2023, we are now expecting it.
