Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez was suspended for two matches, as a result of his expulsion in his team’s first match in the Spanish League once morest Getafe, according to the “La Liga” association, Wednesday.

Xavi was expelled because of his protests in the match, in which last season’s champion settled for a goalless draw at Getafe, and in the first half the Brazilian winger Rafinha was also expelled for assaulting an opposing player.

Barcelona completed the last twenty minutes of the match without its coach, following leaving the designated area next to the stadium to protest the arbitration decisions in front of the fourth referee.

Referee Cesar Soto Grado stated in his report that he “warned Xavi earlier in the match, before expelling him for his many protests,” which also continued following the match in the press conference.

Xavi and Rafinha will miss Sunday’s matches once morest Cadiz, and August 27 at Villarreal.
