## Xander de Rycke: Embracing Humor and Honesty
Belgian comedian Xander de Rycke is known for his sharp wit and relatable humor. He recently sat down with us to discuss his career, creative process, and the importance of vulnerability in comedy.
**Archyde**: You’ve been candid about experiencing jealousy early in your career when fellow comedian Geubels found success frist. Have you learned anything about yourself through that experience?
**Xander de Rycke**: Definitely. It was a tough period, feeling “sulky and jealous,” as I’ve admitted. But it ultimately taught me the importance of focusing on my own path and celebrating others’ achievements.
**Archyde**: you and Kamal Kharmach have a fantastic comedic partnership. What can audiences expect from your upcoming review show?
**Xander de Rycke**: We’re shaking things up! I’ve already written a parody of “Dos Cervezas” that I think people are going to love. Kamal and I always have a blast working together, and we’re excited to bring some fresh, hilarious takes on the year’s events.
**Archyde**: Your girlfriend, Michelle Verelst, has spoken publicly about your comedy routine, even confirming the story about her prescribing you Viagra. How do you balance sharing personal details with maintaining privacy in your act?
**Xander de Rycke**: Honesty is crucial for me. I find humor in the everyday, even the slightly embarrassing moments. Michelle is incredibly supportive and understands that my comedy comes from a place of love and authenticity.
**Archyde**: Do you think comedians have aresponsibility to be open about their struggles and experiences?
**Xander de Rycke**: That’s a great question. I think it depends on the comedian and their comfort level. For me,vulnerability strengthens the connection with the audience. It shows them that we’re all human, navigating life’s ups and downs.
**Archyde**: What advice would you give to aspiring comedians?
**Xander de Rycke**: be true to yourself, find your unique voice, and don’t be afraid to embrace the awkward moments. Comedy is about connection, so be authentic and have fun!
