O X (formerly Twitter) this week began releasing a new option in its application to iOS which will allow you to make posts published in communities also visible to the user’s personal followers.
The news, announced by the social network engineer Dongwook [@DongWookChung2], appears as a checkbox at the bottom of the screen when composing a new post. If you want your publication to also be seen by followers who are not part of a specific community, simply select the option “Also send to followers“(“Also send to followers”, in free translation).
Available on X since 2021, communities work in a similar way to Facebook groups or even communities from the late Orkut. They basically serve to bring together people with a common interest, who can publish publications on that subject for a more targeted audience.
Although X communities are public, only members of these circles can interact with a post made in these spaces. If the author of the publication chooses to share a post with their followers as well, people who are not part of the community will be able to mention the publication in a repost.
Also according to the engineer, although the new feature was only released in the X app for iOS, it should arrive for users of Android devices and on the web soon. It is not yet clear whether the social network will allow members of a community to be prevented from making their publications visible to followers.
