X users will, however, continue to be able to remove people from the Wheel. Os Circles were launched last year — when the network was still called Twitter — and had a similar proposal to Instagram’s Best Friends. The idea is to make posts that can only be seen by a more restricted set of people chosen by you (up to 150), in a parallel way to what is conventionally posted, accessible to followers and/or users in general.
A few months ago, however, following Musk’s acquisition of the company, it began to be noticed — among the far from rare problems that were emerging — that some publications were appearing to people who were not in the post author’s Wheel. In some cases, the sign that it was a Roda post did not appear, although it might only be seen by the restricted group.
Such situations began to discourage the use of the resource, as the idea was precisely that of an environment in which posts might be made to those closest to us. Added to this were difficulties in managing people in Circlessince the X application does not allow, for example, removing people from the Wheel as clearly as adding.
When talking regarding the end of Circles Previously, Musk stated that the idea is to give more focus to Communities and direct group messages, which would receive improvements. This note, however, does not shed much light on the company’s decision, as the Roda has a much more restricted proposal than the Communities, which bring together a larger number of people — who may not even know each other — around a topic and whose posts are public.
