WWE NXT 2.0 #39
Ort: WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, USA
First broadcast: June 07, 2022
NXT 2.0 kicks off this week with a recap of In Your House, where the Creed Brothers and Carmelo Hayes won gold last Saturday.
Inside the hall, we’re greeted by Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett for tonight’s episode before new NXT North American Champion and self-proclaimed A Champion Carmelo Hayes makes his way to the ring accompanied by Trick Williams. Williams explains that everything is finally back to normal now that his colleague has won the title, while Hayes lets us know that he is gradually achieving his goals while everyone else is just chasing following him. Solo Sikoa interrupts the segment and congratulates the new champion, but let him follow his example and talk less and fight more. Sikoa is the next challenger and will take the gold directly from Hayes. Sikoa is not afraid of Hayes and believes he knows exactly how to put the A Champion in his place. Now they are interrupted by Grayson Waller, who doubts that Sikoa has what it takes to defeat Hayes. For him it is irrelevant what kind of blood flows through Sikoa’s veins, he has nothing to report at NXT. Sikoa has had enough talking and launches an attack on Hayes, but he gets support from Williams and Waller, so Sikoa quickly finds himself on the ground.
A video pack follows that deals with Von Wagner and his path of destruction.
1. Match
Singles Match
Josh Briggs (w/ Fallon Henley & Brooks Jensen) defeated Von Wagner (w/ Sofia Cromwell & Mr. Stone) via pin following a running lariat. Previously, Briggs struck with the cast, which was previously on Jensen’s arm.
Match time: 3:04
McKenzie Mitchell visits Solo Sikoa. He takes Waller and Hayes’ attack in a sporty manner, sometimes he’s spanking someone else’s butt and sometimes he’s the one being spanked. But he wants his revenge in the ring, so he challenges Hayes and Waller to a match. It doesn’t matter to him if he has a tag team partner, if necessary he will also compete in a handicap match!
Andre Chase ceremonially awards the 2022-2023 school year scholarship to Thea Hail in front of his class. Pretty Deadly arrive and find the celebration quite ridiculous before Bodhi Hayward pokes fun at the Brits’ loss of the title, who then flee. The Chase U class then poses for a group photo.
Now, Tony D’Angelo heads to the ring accompanied by his entire family, including newly acquired Legado Del Fantasma. Tony D takes a seat at the commentary desk while Escobar, visibly humiliated, prepares for the next match.
2. Match
Singles Match
Nathan Frazer defeated Santos Escobar (w/ The D’Angelo Family: Tony D’Angelo, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo, Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan, Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro) via pin from a Phoenix splash.
Match time: 11:55
– Tony D’Angelo tried several times to teach Santos Escobar which moves he should and shouldn’t show. Escobar didn’t think much of it and didn’t allow himself to be discussed, the audience stood behind him.
– Before the finish, Donovan threw a crowbar into the ring. Escobar was supposed to use this but wasn’t interested and pushed it back to Donovan. This distraction led straight to the end.
Xyon Quinn is now with McKenzie Mitchell and appears unfazed by Nathan Frazer. This is a 1:1 copy of Wes Lee. Of course, Lee defeated him last, but during their five-minute match, he held the upper hand for four minutes and 57 seconds, while Lee was lucky for three seconds. He gets a chance to make up for that mistake next week and promises to leave Lee unconscious in the ring.
NXT Champion Bron Breakker steps into the ring and recaps the past few weeks. So Joe Gacy went to war with him and his family, but in the end Breakker prevailed and defeated Gacy on “In Your House”. When he returned backstage on Saturday, he saw countless faces saying they all want to win the NXT Championship. But Breakker’s question now is: who is man enough to face him next? The question is answered by a loud “Apollo!” and Apollo Crews enters the arena, loudly cheered by the NXT audience. With “Welcome Back” chants, he congratulates the reigning champion before declaring (without an accent) that he’s here at NXT today and will stay for as long as he likes. He observed the rise of Bron Breakker and left NXT far too soon before he might achieve some of his goals at the time, which apparently include the NXT Championship. He’s excited to get in the ring with Bron Breakker and make history. But for today he says goodbye to Breakker with a handshake, which he immediately accepts.
Joe Gacy stands alongside his two favorite druids. He is proud of the two that they realized that they were not in control of their lives on their own and therefore sought help. his help. He’s proud of the progress that has been made and next week they, whatever their previous name, will be stepping into the ring for the first time under the moniker ‘The Dyad’!
3. Match
NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament – Finale – Singles Match
Roxanne Perez defeated Tiffany Stratton via pin following pop Rox.
Match time: 12:19
While Tiffany Stratton can’t believe her loss, Cora Jade storms into the ring and celebrates her best friend’s victory. With this win, Perez earned the right to challenge an NXT Women’s Champion of her choice. But the celebration doesn’t last long, because the women, who have the women’s division firmly in their hands, make their way into the hall. Toxic Attraction congratulate ironically on the tournament victory, but Mandy Rose makes it clear that Perez should better redeem her contract for the guaranteed title chance on SmackDown or RAW, because she wouldn’t have a chance on NXT. She also makes fun of Cora Jade, but Perez has heard enough and punches Rose. A brawl immediately erupts between the two parties, which is also joined by Indi Hartwell to support Jade and Perez. This is also the one that Toxic Attraction finally manages to rout before the three can continue partying in the ring.
The camera switches backstage and there we see Bodhi Hayward lying on the floor. Some referees take care of him and Andre Chase comes along. Hayward is holding his right arm and appears injured before revealing to Chase that Pretty Deadly attacked him from behind. He still wants to play today’s match, which Chase refuses.
Wendy Choo is now with McKenzie Mitchell and wants to comment on her match on Saturday. However, she can’t say much because Tiffany Stratton immediately storms into the picture. She complains that Roxanne Perez acted unfairly and demands a rematch. Wendy Choo draws attention to herself multiple times, but Stratton ignores her each time until Choo throws her drink in her face and leaves the area.
Now it was time for the tag team match between Pretty Deadly and the Chase U, in the form of Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward. The Brits enter the ring first, then Andre Chase storms out alone and attacks the two directly. The referee then starts the match, which Chase starts alone.
4. Match
Tag Team Match Match
Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson & Elton Prince) defeated Chase U (Andre Chase & Thea Hail) via pin by Elton Prince on Andre Chase following the Spilled Milk.
Match time: 3:16
– After almost two minutes, Bodhi Hayward dragged himself into the hall, followed by Thea Hail, who doesn’t think this is a good idea. Hayward thinks Chase needs some help, so Hail jumps on the apron and offers to be Chase’s tag team partner.
– Thea Hail made multiple calls for the move, but Chase never came close to an opportunity.
Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams walk the aisles backstage and meet Tony D’Angelo, Stacks and Two Dimes. Tony D warns Hayes to stay away from him or his second reign as North American Champion will be no longer than the first. Hayes is upset at the lack of respect he’s being shown, but Williams manages to calm him down.
5. Match
Singles Match
Alba Fyre (fka Kay Lee Ray) defeated Tatum Paxley via pin following a Swanton Bomb.
Match time: 2:37
Fyre stays on fire following the win and picks up her opponent before shaking her hand and exiting the ring. On stage, however, Lash Legend knocks her out with a kick.
Julius & Brutus Creed celebrate their title win alongside Ivy Nile and Damon Kemp at Diamond Mine Gym. Roderick Strong also comes in and apologizes for how he was with the Creeds last time. He is proud of them both and a Diamond Mine group hug follows. There are now Edris Enofé and Malik Blade, who are raving regarding the Creeds match on Saturday and seem very impressed. The Creeds are also pleased regarding the appearance of the two. Blade and Enofé inquire regarding the possibility of the two getting a title shot, which the Creeds happily accept and agree to meet next week, which of course Enofé and Blade accept. However, Roderick Strong is not at all enthusiastic regarding it and asks what the two would think if they just gave away title chances. Title matches must be earned. He must have forgotten that the Creeds are still very green as champions and that he has held gold in his hands countless times. He wanted them to make one mistake as champions and they would have made that one mistake in week one.
Giovanni Vinci will make his NXT debut next week. Vinci is none other than the former Fabian Aichner!
In today’s main event there will now be a 2-on-1 handicap match. But before this can start, it becomes clear that Solo will not compete “solo” following all. Apollo Crews joins him for his first match at NXT since 2016!
6. Match
Tag Tean Match
Solo Sikoa & Apollo Crews defeated Grayson Waller & NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes (w/ Trick Williams) via Apollo Crews pinning Grayson Waller following the Sit-Out Spinning Powerbomb.
Match time: 13:46
Sikoa and Crews celebrate their tag team victory together, bringing NXT 2.0 to a close this week.
