Michael Cole and Pat McAfee welcome us to this edition of Friday Night SmackDown from Little Caeser’s Arena in Detroit, Michigan. After that, Ricochet’s music starts playing and he goes into the ring for the first match of the evening.
1. Match
Singles Match
Ricochet defeated Happy Corbin via a pinfall after a shooting star press.
Match time: 12:19
– Pat McAfee addressed Happy Corbin’s untapped potential a few times during and after the match.
Backstage, the Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) meet Hit Row (Top Dolla, Ashante “Thee” Adonis & B-Fab). The two teams are on good terms right now and they all want the smoke and the money. Then they move on together.
A highlight video about Drew McIntyre will be shown. It presents some pictures of his youth and his path in the wrestling business. The focus is once again on his earlier, unsuccessful time in WWE and how he fought his way back.
The picture turns black and white and we hear the music by Karrion Kross. But he doesn’t come on stage, but stands backstage with a microphone next to Scarlett. He speaks to Drew McIntyre and his journey through life and maybe it’s the Scot’s time, maybe not. Kross could knock him out at any time and all previous achievements and stories would be worthless. tik tok
2. Match
Second Chance Fatal 4 Way Tag Team Match
Sonya Deville & Natalya defeated Nikki ASH & Doudrop, Dana Brooke & Tamina, and Shotzi & Xia Li via a pinfall by Sonya Deville on Nikki ASH after Natalya superplexed everyone outside the ring.
Match time: 03:09
– The semi-final against Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah will also take place tonight.
In the “Progressive” Match Flo we see the highlights of last week’s Number One Contender Match for the Intercontinental Title, which Sheamus won.
A hype video will be shown, emphasizing the brutality and danger of Shayna Baszler.
It’s Fight Night! Sheamus’ music hits and he comes into the ring with his Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland & Butch). Sheamus promises today that he will be the new Intercontinental Champion and thus Grand Slam Champion at Clash at the Castle. He’s gonna beat the damn sauerkraut (he really said so) out of Gunther. Meanwhile, Ridge Holland has to keep his tag team partner Butch calmed down as he walks around the ring very upset. After these disrespects, Sheamus’ opponent also enters the ring with Ludwig Kaiser. Kaiser takes the floor and declares that the mat is sacred. Sheamus immediately cuts him off and says that neither he nor anyone else in the hall understands him. Call Gunther the Ring General, but Sheamus is the true Ring General, having defeated some of the greatest legends. He lists some names like Roman Reigns or Triple H and all of these matches were classics. The two have a lot in common and the Irishman hasn’t seen this level of brutality in a wrestler in years, but Gunther has something he wants. In Wales, Sheamus will take the title from Gunther’s lifeless body and strap it around the waist of the “red dragon” (ie himself). Now the Austrian also takes the floor. Sheamus deserves every respect, but he’s just not as good as he is. With a lot of violence, Gunther will demonstrate who deserves the title and rips Sheamus’ body into small pieces. He will break his body and his spirit. Butch then attacks Ludwig Kaiser and a brawl of the three appendages breaks out. Meanwhile, the two actual opponents deliver a staredown. Without taking their eyes off each other, the two leaders are able to placate their partners and the segment ends. Sheamus received positive fan reactions during his talk parts and worked like a face throughout.
Backstage, Sonya Deville & Natalya are asked about their win as they surprisingly won. The two women feel offended by this and try to get each other over. Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah better wrap up warm.
A recap from the past edition of SmackDown will be shown. This covers the face to face segment between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre and the resulting brawl.
Sami Zayn knocks on Roman Reigns’ door and The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) open it. Zayn tries to apologize for his loss last week, but the Usos don’t accept it. They ask what Zayn is doing at Reigns. The Canadian tries to explain himself, but the Tribal Chief invites him into his private chamber and offers him a chair. After a bit of small talk, Reigns brings up Zayn’s defeat. However, the head of the table shows a lot of understanding and appreciates Zayn’s commitment, because only family members do something like that. But Roman Reigns also has a request for him. Sami Zayn should take care of McIntyre and bring him out of the concept. Zayn is excited about the idea and promises to defeat Drew McIntyre in tonight’s main event. The Usos still show little sympathy.
We hear Bayley’s music and this comes to Michael Cole and Pat McAfee with Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai. Bayley will comment and her partners stand by.
3. Match
Tag Team Match – Semi-finals in the Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament
Raquel Rodriguez & Aliyah defeated Natalya & Sonya Deville via a pinfall by Raquel Rodriguez on Sonya Deville after the Texana Bomb.
Match time: 08:26
With that, the winners will meet Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky in the finals of the tournament on Monday.
In the parking area of the arena we see the Maximum Male Models with Max & Maxxine Dupri at a photo shoot. Hit Row’s music comes from somewhere and Maxxine Dupri leaves the scene with an idea. After a commercial break, she returns with Los Lotharios (Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo), each holding a spray can. Again the segment ends temporarily.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are now in the rope square. The latter is in a wheelchair. Woods explains that he’s usually always in a good mood, but today is different because they underestimated the Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar). So the reality is that they were no match for them. Maybe last week’s Viking funeral was also the end of New Day. They can’t say more as said Viking Raiders enter the stage. They are ashamed of The New Day because they do not behave honorably, but weakly. The New Day is a wounded animal and sometimes you have to put them down. Then they enter the ring. Suddenly, Woods gets out of his wheelchair and has two kendo sticks with them, which they can use to drive off the heels.
Again we see the Maximum Male Models in the parking lot. They spray-painted “Hit Row Sucks” on a bus. Said three come in and make fun of the models for spray-painting the wrong bus. This was namely from the Street Profits, which are stunned by this pollution.
Before the main event, Sami Zayn is intercepted by the Usos, who tell him not to mess it up again. Zayn is upset about this negativity and that he spoke to Roman Reigns about exactly that. The Usos then get angry, get upset with Zayn and leave him alone.
Again (!) we see a video that illuminates the story of Drew McIntyre.
On the next edition of Friday Night SmackDown (also being taped tonight as the Workers fly to Cardiff next week) we’ll be celebrating Roman Reigns’ two year reign as the title. In addition, Ronda Rousey will receive her “Final Judgment,” Karrion Kross will make his in-ring comeback, Hit Row will meet the Maximum Male Models, and Butch will take on Ludwig Kaiser. There will also be a Viking Rules Match (Specially Named Falls Count Anywhere Tag Team Match) between The New Day and the Viking Raiders.
4. Match
Singles Match
Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn via pinfall after the claymore kick.
Match time: 10:21
– During the match, the Usos came to the ring and distracted Drew McIntyre multiple times.
Immediately after the ring bell rang, Roman Reigns ran into the rope quad and knocked McIntyre down. But the Scot can defend himself and even throws the Usos out of the ring. But he can only hold the upper hand for a short time and so he has to take a spear from the Tribal Chief. After that, the Usos also come back and knock down the main challenger with chairs. The beatdown now shifts out of the ring, where McIntyre also takes a helluva kick from Zayn and takes a few hits with the ring stairs. McIntyre finally loses consciousness in the guillotine choke and Reigns triumphs over his coming opponent sitting in a chair. Today’s edition of “Friday Night SmackDown” ends with a visibly satisfied Bloodline.
