Simona Waltert had a great performance during the 1st round of the WTA tournament in Parma. La Grisonne (WTA 120) won 6-4 6-4 once morest Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (92). Jil Teichmann (36) also tasted the joys of victory in Tallinn.

After erasing a break during the 1st set on Italian clay, Waltert made the difference from the start during the 2nd set to lead 2-0. An advantage that she was able to keep until the end of the game to glean the set.

Apart from 3 victories in Lausanne, this is the first time that Waltert has won a match on the WTA circuit. In the round of 16, the Grisonne will face the Egyptian Mayar Sherif (74). In 3 duels, Waltert won once.
