The wrong-way driver accident on the S33 in the St. Pölten district claimed two injuries late Thursday evening. According to the Lower Austria State Police Headquarters, a drunk 48-year-old local was driving his car in the opposite direction to the prescribed direction. At the Traismauer junction, there was a head-on collision with the car of a 56-year-old from the Kirchdorf an der Krems district.
Firefighters freed both drivers
Both drivers sustained injuries and were trapped in their vehicles. According to the police, the people were freed by the fire brigade and given emergency medical care on the spot. The Upper Austrian, who was traveling in the direction of St. Pölten according to regulations, was flown to the St. Pölten University Hospital by “Christophorus 2”. The 48-year-old was taken to the University Hospital in Krems by ambulance.
