In a move that would make any aspiring lyricist weak at the knees, they are wrapping up their training year with not one, but TWO masterclasses in the oh-so-glamorous realm of pop music. Yes, you heard right! It’s time to put down the karaoke mic and step into the spotlight!
Meet the Superstars: Federica Abbate and Alfredo Rapetti (Cheope)
First off, let’s talk about the guests of honor: Federica Abbate and Alfredo Rapetti, aka Cheope. Now, if you’re sitting there scratching your head, just whip out your smartphone and Google them. Seriously, go ahead. I’ll wait. Done? Great! You’ve just peeked into the brilliant minds that wrote tunes for all the Italian music legends you may or may not have danced to at a wedding. I mean, who hasn’t belted out Strani Amori in a shower, right?

The Voice Care Music & Art Association closes the training year with two masterclasses dedicated to songwriting in the field of pop music. Two exceptional guests: Federica Abbate and Alfredo Rapetti aka Cheope. Just type their names on the web to understand the caliber of these artists. Cheope, son of Mogol, wrote for Ivan Graziani, Raf, Adriano Celentano, Mina, Mango, Elisa, Arisa and many others. In 1994 he began collaborating with Laura Pausini for whom he wrote more than fifty songs including one of the first successes of the singer from Romagna, Strani amori, third at the 1994 Sanremo Festival.
Federica Abbate distinguished herself at a very young age: at 21 she won the Bianca d’Aponte Award, in the same year the Tour Music Fest in the singer-songwriter category and the Genova x Voi songwriting talent show which got her a contract as an author for Universal Music Publishing. She has signed numerous successes including L’amore eternit by Fedez and Noemi, In radio by Marracash, Roma-Bangkok by Baby K feat. Giusy Ferreri. Contemporaneity has opened new frontiers to songwriting and Federica Abbate is one of the Italian artists who has best been able to ride and interpret the musical needs of this time.
The partnership between Cheope and Abbate led them to co-sign songs such asNessun degree of separation performed by Francesca Michielin at the 2016 Sanremo Festival. The diary of errors performed by Michele Bravi at the 2017 Sanremo Festival and many other successes both among big names like Fiorella Mannoia and among emerging young people like Tedua.
Through the masterclasses, which will take place in Alpago at the Voice Care Music & Art Association on Lake Santa Croce on 16-17 November and 14-15 December, you will be able to learn about and experiment with the languages and tools for writing songs contemporary pop, from music to lyrics and vice versa and you will be able to concretely start writing and evaluating pop songs.
The “From the Pen to the Heart” masterclasses are part of the Belluno Province of Music project which involves the Voice Care Music & Art Association and Gocce di Sole in a broad musical concert and training program through workshops, masterclasses etc. The Project, admitted for contribution within the Notice of Major Events of the Province of Belluno, aims to enhance and give new opportunities to young people who believe in the power of music and art.
