Writer’s scholarship winner Julius Keleras lives in Neringa Culture

Last year, Mr. Keler was awarded a scholarship by the municipality of Neringa, giving him the opportunity to reside at the International Center for Translators and Writers located in Neringa for one fall, winter or spring month (between October and April).

Poet, translator, playwright Julius Keleras is well known to the cultural community of Neringa, and especially Nida. Seven years ago, his trip around Lithuania began with his photo exhibition “Nida – silent postcards”. While wearing the crown of the capital of culture of Lithuania in Neringa, the poetry anthology “I want to return to Nida” compiled by J. Keller was presented (the book was published by the Victor Miliūnas public library of Neringa municipality), last year he was an invited guest of the festival “N žemina”.

While presenting his creative plans, Mr. Keleras noted that during his residency in Nida, he plans to work on his collection of poems “Beside the frost” (working title), in which he plans to publish a cycle of haiku and poems written in 2005-2023. and created in and regarding Nida. While residing in Nida, the writer also plans to continue working on a new book of lyrical poetry “Intimate”. Both the collection of poems and the book of lyrical poetry are expected to be published this year.

The writer’s scholarship aims to encourage creators to create in Neringa, to develop cognitive-cultural exchanges, to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation between the municipality of Neringa and the branch of the Ieva Simonaitytė Public Library of Klaipėda County – the International Center for Translators and Writers.

The scholarship of the Neringa municipality is awarded for the creative activity program of the International Center for Translators and Writers completed during the residency, which consists of creative works created, performed or otherwise publicly presented to the community of Neringa.

Mr. Keller, currently residing in Neringa, is scheduled to meet with the local community on April 18 at 5:30 p.m. In the Viktoras Miliūnas public library of Neringa municipality, Pamario st. 53.
