**Interview with Athletics Director Jamie Smith about the Upcoming Men’s Basketball Season Opening**
**Interviewer:** Thanks for joining us today, Jamie! The men’s basketball season opener against Ohio Christian is just around the corner. What can fans expect for this exciting event on November 6?
**Jamie Smith:** Thank you for having me! We’re thrilled to kick off the season with our home opener. Fans can look forward to a vibrant atmosphere, and we’ll be featuring a special student raffle where one lucky attendee will win a stylish White Noggin Boss Hat. It’s a fantastic way for us to engage our students and create a lively environment.
**Interviewer:** That sounds fun! Each game seems to come with its unique theme or giveaway. Can you give us a sneak peek into some of the events planned throughout the season?
**Jamie Smith:** Absolutely! We have an exciting lineup this season. For instance, on November 16, we’re celebrating Youth Sports Night with postgame autographs and a shoot-around session with our team. Then on November 30, the first 4,000 fans at the game against Air Force will receive a free WPCU T-Shirt. Every game has something special to keep our community involved!
**Interviewer:** I love how the team is integrating community events! Greene County Night on December 11 and the Holiday Game on December 18 sound particularly appealing. How important is community engagement to the athletics program?
**Jamie Smith:** Community engagement is at the heart of our athletics program. We truly believe in the power of sports to bring people together. Greene County Night is our way of showcasing our local pride and recognizing the support we receive from our community. And the Holiday Game is the perfect opportunity for families to come together and enjoy some basketball during the festive season.
**Interviewer:** It seems every game has something different to offer, from Tie Dye Night to Military Appreciation Day. What do you hope fans take away from their experience this season?
**Jamie Smith:** My hope is that fans feel a strong sense of connection to our team and to each other. We want everyone to enjoy not just the games but also the atmosphere and the shared experiences that come with attending. Each theme night and promotion is designed to create memorable moments and foster a spirit of camaraderie among students, families, and fans.
**Interviewer:** That’s a wonderful vision, Jamie! Before we wrap up, what’s your message to those who are on the fence about attending the games this season?
**Jamie Smith:** I’d say don’t miss out on the excitement! There’s nothing quite like the energy of a live basketball game.
