Worrying update on Zion Williamson: “It’s time for the Pelicans to…”

Injured for several months, Zion Williamson is eagerly awaited by the New Orleans franchise. But the latest news regarding the former first draft pick is not reassuring and for some, drastic measures must be taken.

The least we can say is that the Pelicans season has been the most bizarre. Eighth in the Western Conference (40 wins for 38 losses), Willie Green’s men had long been in the lead before collapsing following the New Year. Zion Williamson in January, he who made his return following a blank year.

Bothered by foot problems, the interior (26 points, 7 rebounds and 4.6 average assists) had been invaluable for his people and if they have recovered lately, counting on him will be necessary in order to hope get out of the Play-In and complete a course in the playoffs. Unfortunately, it’s taking less and less direction, as shown by the latest revelations from insider Shams Charania:

There is still no specific return date for Zion Williamson’s return.

Still no known return date for Zion Williamson

With each passing day, a Monstar comeback before this summer seems more and more unlikely because he will also have to find his rhythm very quickly, not ideal for such an injury-prone player. Unsurprisingly, frustration grew daily among New Orleans fans who had taken to dreaming following a hot start to the campaign. The criticisms are therefore harsh:

It’s time for them to move on

The Pelicans should have drafted I Morant

It seems less and less likely that Zion Williamson will make a comeback in the 2022-23 season, much to the chagrin of the Pelicans and their fans. It will therefore a priori have to manage without him in the days to come, while the franchise should dispute the Play-In.
