Situation still worrying in Deux-Acren, a town crossed by tributaries of the Dendre which were quickly waterlogged. Already this Tuesday, the level of the Dendre continued to rise from the end of the followingnoon. A situation which has caused mudslides in certain places, which isolates certain residents. To access the homes of these victims, the firefighters had to use major means such as a Unimog, named following this off-road utility truck with impressive ground clearance. Objective: to meet these inhabitants cut off from the world to help them or meet their needs.
In the neighboring village of Papignies, it is the Trimpont, a tributary of the Dendre, which has risen from its bed, something never seen before for the people of Papignies.. “I have lived in this village since 1969”, declares this resident“I have never seen this, it is very spectacular and unexpected. I am surprised by the scale of the phenomenon”.
Floods occurring despite the major work carried out on the Dendre may seem surprising, but the authorities are convinced that these developments have made it possible to avoid the worst.
