Kottayam ∙ The guest worker who passed out of the Medical College Hospital in the middle of the night while being treated for rabies was caught by the police within hours. Jeevan Barua (39), a native of Assam, who was bitten by a dog, was arrested by the police from Kudamalur. Then an ambulance was called and he was shifted to the medical college.

Vigilance was issued in the district following the migrant worker who was confirmed to be infected with rabies. Then the police started a wide search. The incident happened at 12.30 pm.

Jeevan Barua first sought treatment at the General Hospital following being bitten by a dog. He was then sent to the Medical College Hospital for expert examination. He reached the emergency department at 10.30 pm in an autorickshaw with 2 friends. In the subsequent examination, pea poisoning was confirmed.

The young man ran away from there even though he was transferred to the infectious disease ward. After the hospital authorities informed the police, the alert was issued in the district. The police informed that the friends who came with the youth are also missing.
