World’s oldest man: ‘Ignorant of secret to long life’ – World

According to the BBC, John Tuniswood was born on August 26, 1912 in Liverpool and according to Guinness World Records, he is the oldest living person in the world, but when asked to reveal the secret of his long life, he said: said that there is no “special secret” in it. He said he was “quite active as a young man” and “walked around a lot”, but believed he was “no different” to anyone else.

John Tuniswood said, “Why I have lived so long, I do not know at all, I know nothing of any particular secret that I possess.”

John Tuniswood was two years old when World War I broke out and had just celebrated his 27th birthday when World War II broke out.

He served in the Army’s management department where he managed search and food supplies for stranded soldiers and is now the world’s oldest surviving male survivor of World War II.

He met his wife Baldwin at a dance in Liverpool and they married in 1942. Their daughter Susan was born in 1943 and the couple spent 44 years together before Mrs Tenswood’s death in 1986.

“I don’t follow any particular diet other than eating a portion of fish and chips every Friday,” he said. “I eat what they give me and so does everyone else,” he said. “I don’t have a special diet.”
