French nun Lucile Randonthe world’s oldest person on record today, has died at the age of 118.

AFP news agency quoted David Tavella, a spokesman for the Sainte-Catherine-Laboure nursing home, as saying Randon died while sleeping at the nursing home in Toulon.

Randon, also known as Sister Andre, was born in the south of France on February 11, 1904, a decade before World War The first broke out.

In the same year she was born, New York City of the United States launched its first metro line, while the famous Tour de France bicycle race was only held once.

Randon has long been considered the oldest person in Europe. After Japan’s Kane Tanaka died at the age of 119 last year, Randon is considered the oldest living person on Earth.

The Guinness World Records list officially recognized her record in April 2022.
