Worlds of Eugene: a rain of Belgian eliminations, end of the course for Alexander Doom, Kevin and Dylan Borlée on 400m, everything you should not miss from the 6th night

Bad luck for our three Tornados. Kevin Borlee, Dylan Borlee et Alexander Doom were eliminated in the men’s 400m semi-finals of the Worlds tonight in Eugene.

Placed in lane 4 of the first semi-final, Dylan Borlee, 29, finished fifth in 45.41, yet setting the second fastest time of his career behind his personal best of 45.18 set on June 14 in Bern. The American Michael Norman won this series in 44.30 ahead of the Briton Matthew Hudson-Smith (44.38)

Leaving corridor 7, Doom25, finished sixth, in 45.80, in the second semi-final, dominated by the Grenadian Call me James (44.74) ahead of the Batswana Bayapo Ndori (44.94). Doom has a personal best of 45.34.

Bronze medalist in Daegu in 2011 over this distance, Kevin Borlee, 34, who started from the second lane, finished fifth in the third semi-final in 45.26. His personal best is set at 44.56. The American Champion Allison won this series in 44.71 ahead of the South African Wayde van Niekerk (44.75).

Kevin Borlée finished with the 12th time, Dylan Borlée with the 14th and Doom with the 19th. The first two of each of the three semi-finals and the two fastest remaining times advance to the final, scheduled for Saturday at 4:35 a.m. in Belgium. The three riders remain in the smooth for the 4x400m relay with, hopefully, a chance of a medal for the Belgian Tornados.
