The anaconda is a type of snake that throughout history has caused a certain impact due to its large size. And the latest discovery is the living example of this, since in the Amazon scientists captured the largest anaconda on earth so far seen. However, it is believed that there are some that are larger.

The discovery occurred when scientist Bryan Fry and Dutch professor Freek J. Vonk, in collaboration with actor Will Smith, who is part of the production ‘Pole to Pole with Will Smith’ of ‘National Geographic’, soon to be released on Disney+ , were invited to explore the depths of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

Suddenly, the snake appeared and the researchers discovered that it was a different species from those previously known: it was thought that only the eunectes murinus existed, but this new one was the eunectes akiyama, which has a genetic difference of 5.5% with the other green anaconda snakes.

In fact, both scientists had been collecting samples of anacondas from nine countries. The research was published in the journal Diversity under the name “Untangling anacondas: Revealing a new green species and rethinking yellow ones.”

In the revealed video, Dutch professor Freek J. Vonk is seen swimming with the animal measuring more than 6 meters and weighing more than 200 kilos.
