World’s first smart ring that can detect fatal heart condition

This innovation, built into the Ultrahuman Ring AIR (smart ring technology), enables people with irregular heartbeats to proactively monitor their health.

“When it comes to health, one size does not fit all. That’s why we designed PowerPlugs so that people can pick and choose what matters most to their health and wellness,” said Mohit Kumar, founder and CEO of Ultrahuman, during the launch event.

The smart ring continuously monitors heart rhythm during sleep, to identify potential signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart condition characterized by an irregular and often rapid heart rhythm, which can lead to serious complications such as blood clots, stroke, or heart failure.

Other notable apps within PowerPlugs include: Circadian Rhythm, which provides recommendations for improving sleep and energy levels based on individual circadian rhythms, and Pregnancy Mode, which provides personalized advice for expectant mothers.

Apps to track your period, vitamin D levels, weight loss, and ovulation are just a few of the other apps available, each addressing specific health concerns and goals.

Ultrahuman also launched UltraSignal for app developers, which provides open and unprecedented access to raw data streams from the ring, including PPG, accelerometer, and temperature data.

UltraSignal will help drive more personalization and innovation in healthcare.

Developers can create custom algorithms for sleep, stress, movement and fertility, the company writes on its website.
