World worried about billionaire Mateschitz

How is Red Bull boss Didi Mateschitz doing? This question occupies the media world.

Salzburg. He hasn’t been seen for a year – neither at the Salzburg matches in the Champions League nor at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg: The last photo is from autumn 2021 and shows Dietrich Mateschitz (78) visiting one Champions League game.

When the F1 deal with Porsche fell through, there were the first rumors in Schweizer Blick that the Red Bull boss, with an estimated fortune of 25 billion euros, was ill.

Weeks later, the German news channel RTL/ntv reported on Friday evening that the 78-year-old is said to be seriously ill.

“This is a private matter, we do not comment on it”

A Red Bull spokesman is also quoted in the report: “As you know, it has always been important for Mr. Mateschitz to keep his private life out of the public eye. Nothing has changed regarding that.” Mateschitz’s friend Helmut Marko also does not want to comment on the rumor. “It’s a private matter, we don’t comment on it.”

This is now making headlines worldwide: “Great concern regarding Mateschitz” is the headline in the Bild newspaper online. British and American sports platforms also report.

“Wish him to get well, stay healthy”

At the Rasenball Leipzig match on Saturday, coach Marco Rose was asked by the ARD sports show: “This is a topic that should be treated with great respect and caution when it comes to people’s health. I don’t want to speculate, I know him personally, I like him very much as a person and of course I wish him to get well and stay healthy,” Rose replies cautiously.

Formula 1. RTL reports on Matschitz’s ailing health were also a topic at the Singapore Grand Prix. The focus, however, was clearly on the possible world championship title of Red Bull driver Max Verstappen. That would also be in Mateschitz’ sense.
