World Theater Day.. Performances on a Tunisian stage

On the twenty-seventh of March 1961, the first idea was to allocate a world day for theater, during the ninth conference of the “International Institute of Theater” in the Austrian capital, Vienna; A year later, the “Theater of Nations” was opened in Paris, in which the season of performances began on this date. So that this day will be adopted as an annual occasion to shed light on the fourth art and take care of its affairs, in different countries of the world.

And if we wanted to talk in a Tunisian context, these days – in addition to the fact that they include various dates and Ramadan evenings – also coincide with the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the “National Theater” in Tunis, which organizes two demonstrations on this occasion, namely: “Tunisia Theaters of the World” between 27 This March and next April 4; And “Tajaliyat Al-Halfaween” between the 6th and 15th of next month.

The first demonstration will open at nine thirty in the evening, the day following tomorrow, Monday, in the “Hall of the Fourth Art”, with the play “Caligula 2” by director Fadel Al-Jaziri, provided that the play “Tomorrow … and There” by Noman Hamda will be presented the next day, and the “Center for Dramatic Arts” will participate. and Al-Rakhiyya” in Kasserine with a work entitled “Long Live the War” by Ghawth Al-Zarqi, on the twenty-ninth of this month; While the evening of the thirtieth of it is devoted to the “Carthage Symphony Orchestra”.
 
The rest of the evenings will resume with the following theatrical performances: “I.. Media” by Kuwaiti Suleiman Al-Bassam, “Departed” by Thuraya Boughanemi, “Tayhoun” by Nizar Al-Saidi, and “As My Mother Told It” by the Lebanese Ali Shahrour.

As for the second demonstration, which is “Manifestations of the Halfaween”, its performances will be held in the “Palace of the Theater” in Halfaween and Batha El Halfaween (a neighborhood of the old city in Tunis). and “Avan” by Shadi Al-Majri, in addition to a performance of the children’s puppet theater “The Doctor of the Day” by Al-Asaad Al-Mahwashi; and two musical performances, “Sin” by Benjami, and “Dunya” by Muhammad Ali Shabeel.

The event concludes with the performance of “Metamorphos” directed by Assia Jaibi and performed by Jalila Bakkar, which will be presented on the last two days of the event.
