“World Test Championship Final 2023: ICC Announces Prize Money for Winners and Runners-Up”

London: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the winners of the World Test Championship final. In addition to the winners and runners-up teams, nine other teams have also been announced. ICC released the information through a press release. The India-Australia final will begin on June 7.

ICC said that there is no change from last season in terms of remuneration. The winners will receive 1.6 million US dollars (approximately Rs. 13.21 crore). The second-placed team will also get eight lakh dollars (roughly Rs. 6.60 crores). A total of 3.8 million dollars (Rs. 31.38 crores) has been allocated by the ICC for the tournament.

The same remuneration was given in the first season of the World Test Championship held in 2019-21. All the teams that are part of the tournament will get a share. This time, South Africa, which is in the third position, will get 4.50 lakh dollars. England at the fourth position will get $3.50 lakh and Sri Lanka at the fifth position will get $200,000. New Zealand (six), Pakistan (seven), West Indies (eight) and Bangladesh (nine) will get $100,000 each.

The famous Oval in London will be the venue for the Test Championship final this time. June 12 has also been included as a reserve day in case the Test match, which starts on the 7th, is interrupted due to rain. Last time the final between India and New Zealand was also extended for an extra day due to rain. The Kane Williamson-led Kiwis won the inaugural World Test Championship by defeating India by eight wickets in the final held in Southampton from June 18 to 23, 2021.
