Yunus, a native of Melatur, Malappuram, has not only done charity work with date seeds in Jeddah, but has also given work to a few families and bachelors.
Yunus also holds a world record for making tasbeeh necklaces with the pulp of Ajwa, the king of dates.
Yunus’s tasbeeh mala, made of a thousand Ajwa beads, has entered the World Book of Records.
When the Ajwa Kuru Tasbeeh necklace, which started as a mere curiosity, remained intact following ten years, Yunus started giving it to his friends. When there was social media promotion with the slogan ‘Don’t get cheated, don’t get cheated’, the demand increased.
Yunus has now given employment to a few families and bachelors by bringing ajwa from Medina and processing it. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of tasbeeh malas is also earmarked for charity.
