The merchants’ association is preparing to break a world record in Charleroi, that of the highest stack of pancakes.
A stack of pancakes over 102.9 centimeters is the record to beat this followingnoon in the Place Verte district. The Carolos aim much higher: 120 centimeters, or 780 to 800 pancakes. They intend to get there with 25 liters of pancake batter.
The Traders Association, organizer of the event, has asked professionals to come and take up the challenge. “We have teachers and students (from the kitchen section of IFAPME, editor’s note) who are making this dough, to make this pile and make it happen“, shows us Didier Colart, the treasurer of the association and organizer of the event.
This year, this record is sponsored by the comic book character Petzi, a great pancake lover. Its current designer, Thierry Capezzone is on site and draws for visitors: “He is a character who, for my part, has been present since my youth. I wanted him to be there. I obtained the agreement of the parent company, which is in Denmark, for Thierry to be there for two days.“, rejoices Didier Colart.
The fateful moment is around 5 p.m. Everyone hopes that the stack of pancakes will reach 120 centimeters.
