World Poetry Festival celebrates its coming of age

The 18th World Poetry Festival, in tribute to Leonardo Gustavo Ruiz, began this Monday with a recital by the students of the Juan Calzadilla National Poetry School, in the Manuelita Sáenz Room of the Bolívar Theater, in the central district.

There, new Venezuelan poets such as Mayelin Márquez, Arlev Monterola, Carlos Rengel, Michelle Ramos, Jhonny Algevis, Ye’kwana Gil, Sarai Junco, Juan Pablo Mañú and Zulmary Barrios will stand out.

The formal inauguration will be held at the same venue, starting at 5:00 pm, with a night recital led by Venezuelans Edy Barboza, Isaiah Medina Lopez, Venus Ledezma, Wilmer Ruperti, Victor Manuel Pinto, Daniel Arella and Juan Calzadilla and Morela Maneiro from the Kariña town.

Likewise, Diego Alonso Sánchez will be for Peru, Stefhany Rojas Wager for Colombia, Lubi Prates for Brazil and Luis Lorente for Cuba.

Workshops, recitals, poetic meetings, conferences, book presentations, conversations and an exhibition will be part of the Festival.

With the motto “This, word, you are”, the poetic event will take place until Saturday, April 13 and will extend through 20 states, where some 200 Venezuelan poets and 22 international poets will participate.
