The feat helped the No. 2 seed, Norrie win the 5th ATP championship of her career, with a 5-7 victory; 6-4; 7-5 following two hours and 40 minutes of competition.
Alcaraz continues to ‘sow sorrow’ for the British opponent?
(PLO)- Teenager Carlos Alcaraz is expected to once once more defeat Cameron Norrie in the ATP 500 Rio Open “king” match.
Norrie’s victory also came exactly one week, following the 13th-ranked player in the world lost to the world No. 2 opponent – Alcaraz in the final of the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires.
Earlier in Auckland in January, Norrie was also defeated by a “teen player” in the final. Therefore, the victory for the British tennis player became even more special. “It’s very special to win this, especially following losing several finals this year,” Norrie said following the win.
While Norrie celebrates, Alcaraz develops new anxiety following the high-energy final, prompting him to repeatedly seek medical help. The 19-year-old tennis player was injured and bandaged his right thigh in the middle of the second set. So despite leading 3-0, he still mightn’t finish the game and let Norrie win back to level the score.
The new injury incident also left open the possibility of Alcaraz attending the Mexican Open in Acapulco this week. Next is the Indian Wells Masters, competing in early March in California (USA).

Despite launching 19 forehands to score directly in the decisive third set, the Spaniard – Alcaraz still might not knock off a stubborn Norrie. And with a break point when the set score was 5-5, Norrie completed the opportunity with a direct score serve, winning the ATP 500 championship for the first time in 2023.
British tennis player – Norrie happily shared following the victory: “I did it very hard – successfully defended the game holding the serve despite being 0-30 down. I may have failed at that point but luckily I managed to bounce back.
I had to fight a lot of crazy shots, but I played well in the key moments. And that’s what I did to get where I am today.”
Medvedev ascended the throne following the battle of 2 former world No. 1
(PLO)- Daniil Medvedev maintained his all-win record when he defeated Andy Murray in the Qatar Open final, winning his second title in a row in just two weeks.
