It was released on the first day of COP28 in Dubai after complex negotiations on the mechanisms of the fund, which will be housed at the World Bank on an interim basis.

“It gives a positive signal of momentum to the world and to our work,” Jaber said.

“This is the first time that a decision has been taken on the first day of a COP conference and the speed with which we have done it is unique, extraordinary and historic,” he said.

In this two-week-long important meeting, there will be detailed discussions on the reduction of emissions of harmful gases to the environment, while measures to reduce global warming will also be discussed.

The World Environment Organization has declared 2023 as the hottest year in human history and Pakistan is included in the list of countries most affected by the threats of global warming.
