in relation to open process by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) regarding the advertisements related to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Latina Televisión said on Friday that it regrets the discomfort generated in viewers due to possible doubts regarding the matches that were going to be broadcast live, since the broadcast communications might have been even clearer.
“In Latina we made a great effort to acquire the rights package for the matches because we are aware that the Soccer World Cup is a very relevant event and we wanted all Peruvians to be able to see them without having to pay”, he said in a statement.
Latina explained that it is the only official free-to-air television channel in Peru that broadcasts the 64 World Cup matches. 32 live and direct, by election alternated with the other authorized signals; and the other 32 on a deferred basis, 24 hours following the end of the meetings.
“This is the mechanics of the contract for this world cup, established by FIFA for Peru and several countries in the region”, he detailed.
Facing the final phase of the World Cup, Latina reported that 5 of the 8 round of 16 matches, 3 of the 4 quarterfinals, and also the two semifinals and the final will be broadcast live.
Latina added that they are complying with the preliminary provisions that Indecopi has established as part of the review process that has just started.
“From Latina we have already advanced the documentation requested by the regulator and we remain at your disposal to continue contributing to the respective process, within the established deadlines.“, I note.
Finally, Latina recalled that the detail of the schedules and matches, live or deferred, will be communicated daily on all its platforms.
