Doha: Two giant pandas, China’s World Cup gift, will reach Qatar by October. They are from the Sichuan province of China, known as the land of pandas.

China’s ambassador to the country, Zhou Jian, said that the pandas are China’s gift to Qatar on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which will be held in the country from November 20 to December 18.

The ambassador made the announcement at a reception in Doha on the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The ambassador added that this is a gift of 1.4 billion Chinese people for the Qatar World Cup and will surely become a new symbol of China-Qatar friendship.

The ambassador said that two pandas named ‘Suhail’ and ‘Thuraya’ will be brought to the country in October. Suhail is one of the brightest stars visible in the Gulf region and Thuraya is the Arabic name for the Pleiades constellation. Bring the pandas to Al Khor Park.
