Concerns over World Cup 2023 schedule are over. The ICC will announce the schedule tomorrow (June 27) following the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) approves the venues. A senior BCCI official said that Pakistan has accepted the schedule and there will be no changes in venues.
The PCB had expressed its opposition to the India-Pakistan matches in Ahmedabad and the upcoming matches once morest the Australia and Afghanistan teams in Bengaluru and Chennai. Pakistan said that they will not play these matches at these venues. But following the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opposed the changes, Pakistan backed out.
Despite Pakistan’s objection, the India-Pak match will be played in Ahmedabad itself. Pakistan had demanded that the match be shifted to Chennai, Bengaluru or Kolkata. The PCB cited politics as the reason. But this venue can be changed only if there are security reasons. So Pakistan’s demand was not lost.
