World Cup 2023: India’s winning streak and England’s losing streak continues

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, host India’s win and defending champion England’s loss continues.

India defeated England by 100 runs in the 29th match of the World Cup in Lucknow on Sunday to secure their sixth consecutive victory in the tournament.

On a difficult wicket, England won the toss and invited India to bat first, then the English bowlers proved their captain’s decision right and kept the Indian batsmen in trouble from the start.

In this match, Shibman Gul, Virat Kohli zero and Shreyas Iyer returned to the pavilion after scoring only four runs in this match.

But even so, captain Rohit Sharma remained at the crease and appeared to be batting away from his traditional style. After early wickets fell early, KL Rahul stood by the captain for a few moments and made the team’s position a bit more stable.

Seeing the target of 230 runs on the scoreboard, it seemed that England would break the losing streak and go for victory today.

However, this could not happen. When England started batting in pursuit of the target, the Indian bowlers not only stopped them from scoring runs but also kept taking wickets at a fast pace while bowling very well.

At a total score of just 55, England had lost five wickets and from there their hopes of victory were almost extinguished.

Fast bowler Mohammad Shami, who was included in India’s team after the injury of Hardik Pandya, is looking in great form.

Mohammad Shami conceded only 22 runs in seven overs and dismissed four players. Apart from them, star bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed three, Kuldeep Yadav two and Jadeja dismissed one player.

Thus, India secured their sixth consecutive victory in this World Cup while it was England’s fourth consecutive defeat and fifth overall in this tournament.

In the points table, India is at the first position with 12 points, while South Africa is second, New Zealand is third and Australia is fourth. Pakistan’s number is sixth while England is currently at the tenth position.
