World Cup 2022 in Qatar: security man denies journalist stadium entry Sports

Excitement ahead of the USA vs Wales game (8pm)!

As the American journalist Grant Wahl (830,000 followers) posted on Twitter, a Qatari security guard refused him entry to the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

Reason: Wahl is wearing a rainbow t-shirt, which the guard didn’t like!

Wahl tweeted a selfie wearing the rainbow shirt, writing: “A security guard refuses to let me into the stadium for USA vs Wales. He said, ‘You need to change your shirt. It is not allowed.'”

Wahl does not say whether the US journalist bowed down, changed his T-shirt and then got access to the stadium.

In the comments under his post, however, the American is verbally abused. One user writes: “You must respect the host’s rules, you don’t accept them. You are a guest and it is not your home here.”

Another wrote: “You are a disrespectful person. Why don’t you respect the customs, traditions and laws of the country?”

“Where’s Goretzka, where’s Neuer!?” TV billing with German bandage cowards

Others, however, stand by the journalist, writing: “The point is that football is for ALL and it is a shame that Fifa allows a nation to host the biggest tournament when it refuses to honor the game.”

The strictly Muslim country of Qatar has been heavily criticized for its homophobic attitude.

At the latest following Fifa banned the “One Love” bandage, which was supposed to stand for diversity, equality and human rights, and the statements by World Cup ambassador Khalid Salman (60, homosexuality is “mental damage”) in the ZDF documentary ” Secret matter Qatar”, the homophobic attitude of the desert state has become even clearer.

Homosexuality is a criminal offense in Qatar, and public displays of love between couples in the LGBTQIA+ community are punished draconically.

Now the Qataris are causing the next homophobic scandal by excluding the journalist because of his rainbow shirt…
