America and England qualified, on Tuesday, for the second group, to the round of sixteen for the FIFA World Cup, which is currently being held in Qatar.
Marcus Rashford’s second-half brace propelled England to a 3-0 win over neighbors Wales to advance top of Group B and end Wales’ hopes of reaching the knockout stages.
The game came to life when Rashford curled in a free kick from the edge of the area in the 50th minute before Phil Foden sprinted unmarked to the far post and headed home a Harry Kane cross two minutes later.
Then Rashford dealt the final blow to Wales when he sprinted towards the inside and somehow managed to score the net with a shot that passed through the legs of Welsh goalkeeper Danny Ward in the 68th minute.
The victory raised England’s balance to seven points to face Senegal in the next round, while Wales occupied last place with one point, as its first participation in the World Cup finals in 64 years ended without any victory and scored only one goal in three matches.
Christian Pulisic also scored a goal and was injured doing so as the United States beat Iran 1-0 and qualified for the last 16 with England.
Needing a win to advance to the second round once morest Iran, who needed a draw, the Americans attacked relentlessly in a high-paced game and opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Serginho Dest’s header found Pulisic, who hit the keeper into the net.
