Russian grandmaster Ian Nepomniachtchi lost with black pieces to Chinese opponent Ding Liren in the 12th game of the match for the chess crown. The game ended on the 38th move. The score following 12 games became equal – 6:6.

The 13th game will take place tomorrow, April 27th. Ian Nepomniachtchi will play with White. In total, 14 games are planned for the match for the world title. For an early victory, one of the grandmasters must score 7.5 points (1 point for a win, 0.5 points for a draw).

Jan Nepomniachtchi is 32 years old. He was twice the champion of Russia (2010, 2020) and won the World Team Championship the same number of times (2013, 2019), became the champion of Europe (2010). In 2021, in the fight for the world title, Ian Nepomniachtchi lost to Magnus Carlsen with a score of 3.5:7.5.

Ding Liren is 30 years old. He won the 2019 Grand Chess Tour and won the Chinese Championship three times (2009, 2011, 2012).
